About Angel G. Diaz Oquendo

EmbeddedEra is an electrical engineering practice in Raleigh, North Carolina, that designs printed circuit boards and embedded firmware, assembles small batches on its own SMT line, and tests every unit on automated fixtures. It also replaces obsolete parts, ports firmware between microcontroller families, and reverse-engineers legacy boards. It is run by Angel G. Diaz Oquendo. EmbeddedEra LLC was founded in April 2024.

Who I am

I'm Angel — an electrical engineer in Raleigh, North Carolina. I design boards in KiCad, write firmware in C across STM32, ESP32, Nordic nRF, Microchip and TI parts, with BLE, Wi‑Fi, Ethernet and CAN when the product needs to talk, and build and test the prototypes myself on my own pick-and-place line and a test station I built for exactly that job. One person, one accountable engineer, schematic to tested boards.

What that looks like end to end

A project starts as a scope and a fixed quote, moves through a reviewable schematic and layout, and comes back from assembly already run through an automated test station I built, with optical verification, not a bench check by hand. What ships is production files, a BOM, a firmware release, and a hand-off call.

Who this suits

Startups and small manufacturers who need one person who understands the whole board — not a committee, and not a design thrown over a wall to a stranger's assembly house. If you want someone who can explain every line on the BOM and every choice in the firmware, that's the fit.

Values

  • Excellence — We hold our own boards to the standard we'd want from someone else's.
  • Innovation — The right answer over the familiar one, even when it means a different part or a new fixture.
  • Integrity — If a schedule or a spec is wrong, we say so before the board is ordered, not after.
  • Collaboration — You get straight answers and a say in the trade-offs, not a black box.
  • Customer Focus — One accountable engineer who answers for the whole board, start to finish.
